Books
You might wonder what a book-section is doing on a hockey sim site. Well, I figured I’d give you a few tips on useful literature while you’re here anyway. The books I’ll be listing here are related to the sim, mostly hockey and programming books, but one or two others might slip in.
First I’d like to recommend the latest NHL’s official guide and record book. I buy this every year, simply because I’m a stat buff and this always prepares me for the upcoming season. Also a great reference if you’re considering historical leagues.
Next is another hockey book which is every statisticians dream. It’s only available used nowadays, but is considered the hockey equivalent of Bill James’ Baseball Abstract. There’s a lot of stuff being done in hockey statistics on the web today, and this book is an inspiration to the new generation of hockey stat buffs.
If you’re even remotely interested in hockey statistics beyond the regular stuff that’s out there, this book is a MUST. I believe it can be found in some Canadian bookstores still, but I got mine through Amazon.

“The Hockey News” has made a magazine full of Hockey Lists and includes some very intereting ones. It would be very cool if some of them could be included in this game; maybe that’s just wishful thinking. Anyways it should be out within the next month and it certainly deserves a look, for anyone who is interested.
